New Premium Version (check your emails)

Anyone who has spent $5 or more on Rewind should be receiving an email with the most recent premium version of the game (v0.3.5.3). The links are hosted with Mega, and the emails are being sent to the addresses that were attached to your Itch.io account at the time of your purchase. Be sure to check your spam folder as well, because I'm sure it's flagged as being janky AF.

(If anyone did not receive an email, drop me a message on Discord with your purchase information (date and/or number) and I'll get those links to you)

  • Yes, the email is from me.
  • Yes, I'm sorry to bother you in your inbox.
  • No, there wasn't really a better way.

Now that we have that out of the way, I need to explain what is going to happen going forward with the Itch.io version of Rewind. I'll be creating a new Itch.io page for the premium version of Rewind at a 'purchase' price (as opposed to the previous model that used the 'pay what you want' option).  That price will be higher than I'm personally comfortable with, but I've spoken to the Discord channel about this and everyone assures me that I'm undervaluing the game by a pretty large margin... so, hey, if it turns out that it's too high, I'll just lower it.

Everyone who has ever paid money on Itch.io to support Rewind, will be receiving one more email from me with coupon codes towards that premium version.

  • If you paid $5 or less, you will get a $5 coupon code.
  • If you paid more than $5, you will get a coupon code rounded up to the nearest dollar ($8.23 gets a $9 code).

I intend to list the Premium version 'on sale' for the first week to give existing players the best possible price.

This change will take place in early September.

Thank you again for your generous support, and I apologize that everything suddenly needs to be so complicated. Hopefully we can find our place to settle soon.

Hi, checking back. Do you have an estimated release date of the new version?

Hi! Will the paid version be coming soon? I'm waiting with baited breath to purchase it on release.

Hello I just saw this. So I know that I paid 5$ initially and I'm seeing conflicting stuff in the post will I get the game now or am I just getting the coupon and if I am just getting the coupon when will this be in effect?

Is the offer for the coupons still available?

it looks like the premium version is not up yet. That aside I am not sure coupon will be useful. From what I have seen from other games (this would be the first I would buy) if the cost of the new version is greater than the current price you paid then you do not get the game.

Someone correct me if this is incorrect.

So, the game was previously not actually 'sold'... it was provided free in exchange for a donation above $5. Weird, I know, and it makes very little sense all around, but that's how the transaction worked.

The 'premium' version that will be released, will be a permanent purchase of the game. Think of it like signing up for Early Access on Steam, where the game is a little cheaper in exchange for not being entirely finished. All future versions will remain purchased, and any change in price will not impact anyone who previously purchased the game. It's yours, and unless I drop dead and never finish it, you'll eventually get the full final version for no additional cost.

Since I don't want anyone feeling like they were ripped off, I'm making sure that everyone who ever spent money to support Rewind will get at least the amount they put in as a coupon code towards the full purchase. I know that the bump in price will lose some customers... but, honestly, I've worked on this game for a really long time, and at this point I really just need to come out and say that it's worth more than five bucks.

Right now, the plan is for the full purchase price to be $25. I intend for the initial sale price to be $15, and that sale will last a week, so that people who are already following the game will have a chance to pull the trigger at a lower cost.

Thank you for the correction.

(1 edit)

No, the coupon codes will only be given to people who previously paid money for the game (think of it as a roll-over, so no one needs to double-pay). Once my life calms down and I can get the premium page finished up, the first week or so the game is online, it will be on sale for a lower price, and that will be available for everyone.

Edit: If you HAVE paid money for the game, then the coupon codes will be sent to you via the email on your Itch.io account. That's the only way I have to contact customers. The coupon codes are not finished yet and have not been sent. I'll post another devlog when those are out the door, and to announce the release sale.

Thank you for the clarification. I'll certainly be buying it on sale! I hope people find this game worth the purchase and wish you the best of luck!
