i cant get past the chicken what do i need to do?

There are various solutions. One: Build you endurance until it basically does no damage, then hope to land your hits. Two: Build  you favor with Ragus, Vint, or the goddess of war (Don't remember her name atm) to gain the titles from them. After  that, train your stats to be strong enough to beat it.

three: Wait until you have many more titles. I know this sounds like the last one, but you can also gain titles through leveling specific stats past a certain point.

The first time i beat it, I had just focused on training endurance and then beat it. The first hit may cause a lot of damage, but every hit after that should be fine.

Now that I have many more titles, it is a rather easy fight to beat since my stats raise by quite the amount quite quickly.

Option Four: Come chat on our Discord channel. We have a lot of long-time players who know the best way to do just about anything in the game, and The Cucumber is generous in giving tips to such questions himself pretty regularly.

Im curious . Your patron goals are for # of patrons, not total monthly income. Hypothetically how would it effect those goals if a few people donated 200 a month ?

It's been mentioned that I should change the goals to reflect an income target instead of membership count. I'll likely do that in the coming month.

For the past year, the kids have been at home with me 24/7, since the daycare was closed for Covid. That meant that, essentially, I couldn't do more work on the game no matter how much was given on patreon, simply because I would still be babysitting twin 4 year olds (this is also why I've not spent the time required to beautify the itch page). Almost everyone in my family is now fully vaccinated, though, so we're planning to send them back to daycare for a few days per week in the middle of May. Once that happens, I'll have a much better idea of how much work I can and cannot get finished on the game with the time I can give to it, and I'll be able to let everyone know what the expected changes will be with more income. I expect that the biggest improvements will come at roughly 1000-1200, which would be enough to put the kids into daycare all week. After that number, additional patreon targets would be used to improve equipment, perhaps pay for some part-time coding help, and the like.

Quick questions (hope you read...): 

1. I see, on SprintingCucumber Patreon, ver. 2.5.1 is free (since The Wife mentioned it) and here it isn't. Will you upgrade the page here too? 

2. What body model do you use for Lani (I know its from DAZ Studio, but from where you found it?)? (im just curious)

3. Are there any rewards if you max out a title (apart from stat bonuses)?

1. I juuuuust did. Sorry it took so long to get this page up to date.

2. Lani is a combination of Paige (I dislike Paige as a stand-alone model, but she's good for adding a toony look to other models), Posey, and... one other body style that I can't recall the name of (plus, of course, a lot of slider fun... honestly, I'd be hard-pressed to make the exact same character again). The ears are custom from me, but I've seen some similar ones on the Daz store recently, and the tail is just a tube with hair. All of the hairs and so forth are built in Maya.

3. Some titles provide additional bonuses as you level them up, and some are just higher levels of the same bonus. Actually, in the mirror menu, you can see all of the titles and all of their various level descriptions. In the titles section, above the list of titles there's a 'show all titles' button. Then you can just select the title you want to see and click through the various levels with the arrows at the bottom of the screen.

Update from the Developer's Wife: As many of you know, our family lives in Texas. Like most our fellow Texans, we were negatively impacted by the massive ice and snow storm that rolled through our state and knocked out our electricity grids and water lines. Our family was lucky to suffer only minor damage to our home (we lost a tree, but nothing else.) We were able to take our kids and pets all to a hotel where we stayed for a week. And the week before that was filled with festivities fory birthday and our wedding anniversary. So, yeah, he was not able to work on the game these past two weeks.

That said, we fully expect him to be able to resume working on it tomorrow. 

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope everyone else impacted by this crazy storm was able to stay safe. Much love from our family to all of you!

There is no audio at all. And adding audio is very far down the road, if ever.

infinite money when buying and reselling in the guild is normal ? .  I play version 2.42

It is intended and not currently planned to be changed. His exact words are, "Yeah, you can do it, but it's not very much money. If someone wants to make infinite money that way, go for it."

I can't install this on the itch app

Try logging into the website directly, instead. We haven't ever heard of people having issues downloading this game through the Itch App... But we definitely know it works from the website.

I've done a manual download via the website according to the app there isn't a file to download dunno if the issue is on your end or itch's thought you should know all the same

Ok, I know the problem. I've not done the steps to integrate the game into the Itch app's automatic update system (it's not a difficult process or anything; it's just not been high on my priority list).  Until I get that sorted out, the app won't find any usable versioning information, so it won't allow you to select any files to download.

You can still download the raw files from the web portal version of Itch, though (https://sprintingcucumber.itch.io/rewind). I'll make a devlog post when I have everything squared away to work properly with the app sometime over the next few days (my work time is limited during the pandemic dark ages, so I can't promise a quick turnaround).

New release is out on Patreon. Barring any major issues, The Cucumber expects to release on Itch tomorrow.

Can't get past the "tell god your name" part...

I put it in, click enter, and nothing. Try to close the keyboard, nothing. Restarted, tried several other simple fixes, no change. Solutions?

He says to try just leaving your name blank and seeing if it will let you move forward.

I say also try using the Enter Key on the keyboard. If they doesn't work, try specifically NOT using the Enter Key on the keyboard and making sure you only submit the blank through the in-game submit button. Mind you, I've never played the game, so mine are just simple troubleshooting ideas.

Please let us know if you find a way to make it work. He plans to just remove that from the Game when he starts working tonight.

Thanks. The Developer is much more responsive on Discord than he is here or on Patreon. And he enjoys being able to have real time conversations with people who like his work. So getting people into the game's Discord really helps improve his motivation and creativity.

Update from our Discord: Quick update. Next version is finished, and I'm currently testing on Android. Have a few bugs that need to be looked into, but won't have time to sit down and look at the code until the kids go to bed tonight. Hoping to have the next release out to backers tonight or tomorrow morning.

I noticed in the variables file the old titles are set to default = 0 where the new ones are not, don't know if this is where the problem with titles stems from.

With Lani's exp, it seems she was set to lev 1 and exp set zero, but the amount needed to get to lev 2 is still the amount she would have needed to get to the next lev in the previous rewind, lev 4 or 5 I believe, only this time it wants that amount to get to lev 1.

Another bug I found is if you don't unequip things from Lani, then buy them in the next rewind then try and equip them, it will tell you they are equipped to Lani and the only way to unequip them is to add her to your party and do so.

Hate bugs, I can see how they can tie up so much of your time you cant advance the story line, bummer.  

Good catch on Lani's xp. Looks like I neglected to reset her next level requirements at the time of rewind, just as mentioned. I've corrected it for the next version release.

As for the titles, those are legacy variables, just left in the code to avoid breaking old save files. I've since moved the titles into a better system, but I'm wary of cleaning up some of the legacy stuff too soon after moving it to obsolescence. I know a lot of people will play a game and then come back to it six months later to see what's been added, and I want those people to be able to come in with their saved games intact if they were so inclined. I think that once Covid is over and I have my development time back, I'll spend a dozen hours or so just cleaning up and removing legacy code.

Also, any item put in the soul box causes an exception, but if ignored will still show in next rewind, but only if it was equipped in last.

Also,

Lani's exp's do not reset correctly after 90 day rewind. After multiple rewinds I added Lani to my party only to find it would take almost 29,000exps just to get her to lev 2. I thought it was taking awhile to level her up on previous rewinds, but unfortunately did not check right after adding.

New titles seen to go to level 2 and 3, but now old titles, such as Hercules, and magic adept, no longer do, they don't seem to go above basic level. Magic level only saves as 1 after 90 day rewind, same with strength, no matter temple lev with gods, ect. all with ver. 0.2.3 pc

All titles have been filled in for the full ten levels in the next version (currently finishing and testing version 0.2.4). I'll look into Lani's reset code... It's supposed to just reset along with the player, but it's possible that she could be glitched.

The soul box error has been brought up to me a few other times... It's working in my test code version, but I'm planning to allow the box to level up in this next version, so who knows what I will break when that happens.

Potions....... They work for me, but I'll start a new game from this version and see if I can find the problem. My first problem with the potion code was that if you looked at them they disappeared from your inventory. Like schrodinger's cat, only potions. So simply not working is a step up.

As for the sprites, they're made in Maya. I originally intended to do more standard pixel art, but all of my models are in Maya, so that just became the way of it.

So, in version 0.2.2 if you just focus on endurance you can beat the cockatrice... Aside from the initial attack it was dealing 2-3 damage while I did 11-17... Cool thing to note if you want to get past day 31...


Edit: Fixed a misspelling...

Looked this over, it does not show in camping scene, but potion seems to have effect though in next battle as health bar is higher than indicated that it would be with only sleep.

Thanks for the report and the offer to help. I'll ask him respond to you today.

I'm using the windows version of the 0.2.3 and find that the healing potions are not working in the camping part of the game at all, this is kind of a real bummer as it makes it really tough to get Lani up in level. Also, what program do you use to render your sprites? I wouldn't mind rendering and scripting a few items and such for you if you could use a hand when I'm able. This game is pretty fun, would be nice to see it get somewhere.

Hows the next update coming?

He's working on it as he can. But it's taking a lot longer than he expected. And he's now to the point where he doesn't even want to try guessing at the next release date anymore.

What Android keyboard is this set to use? I can enter my name but it doesn't "Enter" when I am done.

The initial name input is just a joke, so the input isn't saved by the game. The player will eventually be able to change the main character's name, but that will be unlocked via in-game actions. It's not high on my list of features, but also pretty simple to add in, so I may push it up once I have this next version finished.

With mine u had hit back and quickly hit accept in order to drop the keyboard so I could enter a name

Hmmmm. That certainly shouldn't happen. It should accept whatever you type and then promptly ignore it... I'll make sure it works properly in the next version.

That's correct. He hasn't added a sound track or sound effects of any kind yet. That's in the road map, but it's low priority right now.

You will all be happy to know he has started rendering images that make me uncomfortable - especially since his render computer is right next to the computer I use for all my work meetings.

Why does Leveling up the main character make all stats except hp drop alot. Ex: my attack stats drop from 318 to 293. Pls fix, I'm not going to do quest to level up if I'm just getting weaker.

Tried unequip my items just to try, and defence become -77 & m defence to -38. Wow that some huge nerf from my lv 1 stats compare to lv 3. Yup, not worth doing guild quest until fix.

A problem indeed. First, please make sure you're running one of the recent versions (I was aware of similar problems and tried to correct them in 0.2.2, and the 0.2.3 update should have fully corrected this problem... Not that it's impossible for a different problem to cause a similar effect).

There were some problems like this in the level up screen (magic attack is still bugged in the most recent version, but there are no magic attacks for the player right now so it wasn't my top priority). Most of them should be corrected in the most recent free version, and the donation copy should be fully corrected to calculate start changes without the equipment effects making everything strange. That said, the game does a full stat recalculation every time you sleep (in your bed, sleeping elsewhere does not recalculate), so any strangeness you see with stats should be corrected when you wake up. So, if all else fails, unequip everything (even if the values turn weird), go to sleep, then reequip in the morning for a full stat reset (the only thing that could potentially still be glitched is if you somehow started off with a level of zero, but this shouldn't be possible. In the event that it still doesn't work correctly, the game does a full system reset at rebirth, which brings almost all flags and values back to default and corrects most of the problems people have with titles and experience points problems). The most recent released version of the game corrects for these things automatically, while the version I'm working on now has an option to manually reset the most troublesome values to help people avoid needless restarts.

Sorry for the inconveniences, but I hope you're enjoying what I have finished so far.

He uses Maya, though I think he recently said there is a different software he would use if he knew then what he knows now. I'll try to get him to come reply here.

Hiya, I use Maya for most everything on the visuals and it's written in Renpy. The models are imported from Daz Studio and then modified for my purposes (hair, modeling, soft-body, etc).

As my wife mentioned, though, this decision was made years ago when I first started learning 3d applications. These days I would recommend Blender for someone that isn't already working in a different program. Maya does some things really well, but it's also mired in professional elitism (the community is hit and miss when it comes to support), costs a lot of money, and has a slow development cycle (much like I do). On the other hand, Blender is free, community-focused, and has a lot of the same tools as Maya. Basically, 5 years ago Blender was meh, 3 years ago Blender was pretty good but not really professional standard, last year Blender started seeing some features that were as good as anyone else, and right now Blender has progressed to the point that a professional studio may seriously consider them to replace Maya or C4D.

And of course, Daz is really good for individual characters (especially if you want realistic models). I chose to leave that environment because I didn't like the lack of freedom in scenery and simulations (I think they've gotten a little better at hair sims, though). It's also much more difficult to get a solid toony look in Daz (though not entirely impossible), since you're relying on shader packs instead of the actual nitty-gritty shader nodes you'll find in Blender or Maya.

Originally my intention was to do all of the rendering in Daz, but I found too many limitations for my specific goals. After spending about a month trying to get my characters and renders looking as I wanted, I decided to scrap them and migrate to a more robust 3d system. That said, Daz is legitimately good for rendering small groups of people (2 or 3 max) and small environments, especially if you want photo real characters. Over the past year, they've also improved hair systems, too, so if I was to make the choice today, i can't really say if I would have invested the time to learn something like Blender or Maya. 

As for my full production order, the characters start in Daz, import to Maya, sculpt any additional features or details (or remove them, since a lot of times a toony character looks creepy with too much detail), customize skins and subsurface maps in Photoshop/surface painter (though sometimes the skins that import from Daz are perfectly good), correct the shaders (this was the hardest part to really get right for me, since the skin-feel of the characters was one of the main reasons I went to Maya), then sculpt out the hair using xgen, which is the native hair tool in Maya (though I've considered using other tools for hair, like ornatrix, but learning a new tool always takes time, and I'm not sure if it'll be worth it right now). I call these my clean characters, since they have none of the clothes or general fluff that will be added in other production scenes, so the file sizes are generally pretty small. I just turn off the hair, then use them to pose and animate things for simulations so that my semi-crappy computer doesn't work too hard.

Of course, there's always a lot of trial and error when doing something like this. Once you enter a semi-professional software ecosystem, a lot of the handholding that we take for granted is removed and instead you're given an esoteric error message or a software crash when you make a mistake. It took a long time for me to realize that Daz files import into Maya at a 100 to 1 size ratio, for example. It doesn't really matter much unless you're simulating something, because cloth acts different if it's a mile wide. I guess it's really just that the more stuff you can change, the more stuff there is that you can screw up.

Do you guys have an eta for the next update?

one bug that i have encountered is that when i get enough exp to level up the god affinity to level 2 it gets stuck and i can pray to them but they won't level up i can pray to them but the exp bar stays at max i even tried to level up the temple level and even at temple level 3 the god's level won't go up

This is a problem with the visual indication, since I failed to change the maximum value of the exp bars. I'll have it fixed in the next version, but for now, once the xp bar is filled you are actually at roughly 40% of the actual level up value. Any progress you make right now is still being saved by the game, so you'll see an accurate representation of your progress in the next version.

What is rewind 2.1.1 hotfix.zip for?

The file is only needed/useful if you downloaded the buggy version 0.2.1 - the 0.2.1.1 archive fixed those issues w/o a complete redownload.

tl/dr: boring if you never downloaded 0.2.1 : )
